ok
zomg
today was the sydney eisteddford
for symph orch
and it was DEVOOOO
surprisingly, i dind't get lost on my way there :L
ok so
we played the mozart symphony, and a stravinsky piece (which had a bassoon solo...)
and i thought we played alright!!
so the list of competitors in our devision were:
- knox grammar
- plc
- shore
- fort street
- st ignatious
- riverside. . .? (the boys school...)
- lane cove youth orchestra
- north sydney (?) youth orchestra
- abbotsleigh
except abbotsleigh didn't even come! :S
so yeh
we were like the 3rd orchestra to perform....
fort street and ummm...... riverside? were before us.
so we didn't get to hear them play . .. :S
then it was us
and we played....
and then after us, it was plc.
NICE UNIFORM GUYS!
you look a little like those asian waitors in yum chas...... anyway....
they played the unfinished symphony by strauss (i think?)
WE PLAYED THAT LAST YEAR!!!!! zomg X__X
for this comp !!! T___T
and far out.
i dunno...
it sounded like it was missing something though...
like more bass maybe?
but it was still really good!
then their 2nd piece was this weird duet for 2 violins, with an accompaning orchestra.
it got really bad and messy towards the end, because they were playing really high.
it was really out of tune.... and just blergh.
don't bite off more than you can chew! ahahaha T.T
then yeahhhh.
i think we had a break after that?
so yeah
me and a couple fo yr 8s decided to buy dinner in our break
ZOMG

even if though we went in a MASSIVE circle.
like seriously... we nearly got to china town i think.... yes, fail
but nsgs were never good at geography... hemhem

ahahaha HEALTHY ROIGHT>?!
then we went back
and ate.
and wiated for the piece to finish playing, before we went into the auditorium, because you know, we have concert etiquette. . .
i cna't remember who was playing?
i think it was barker?
yeah then all these orchestras played
and i sorta tuned out because they were playing the theme songs for like pirates of the caribbean or smth T.T
i'm sorry, but i've heard that song wayyyy too many times already
yeah
THEN
SHORE AND KNOX CAME
ZOMG.
they were supposed to play BEFORE the break.... except for osme reason they like swapped or somethin....
and ZOMG
ahahhaa
apparantly steve used to CONDUCT at shore.
except he like... stormed out one of their rehearsals, and said "I'M QUITTING"
and he never went back O_O
yeah
apparantly "boys are just boys"
o.o
but zomg
they're actually REALLY GOOD!

yeah
their cellos were like... really really into it...
i THINK One of the guys from my primary was in it... except i was too far to confirm :L
yeah
i don't remember what they played :S
BUT I JUST REMEMBER IT WASREALLY GOOD.
then it was KNOX.

even though they mainly focused on their brass/wind sections alot... i guess the proness from them kinda pulled off the weirdness of the strings.
HOW SAD.
SO
then we waited AGES for the adjudicator to announce the results
so:
Highly commended- Barker
Highly commended- Shore
3rd Place- Fort street
2nd place- PLC
1st place- KNOX
DDDDDDDDDDDDDD::::::::::::::::::::::
ok i'm like
so pissed man
because
i stayed LITERALLY to the end of the competition!
HOPING that we would at least place D:<
but nooo
oh FAR OUT.
LIKE SERIOUSLY I HATE PLC.
